What a day...
Jul. 21st, 2003 12:57 pmNow that I have a pretty decent idea what I can and cannot eat, I have the dilemma of avoiding some of my favorite foods.
Like - ok, no citrus. That's hard. No OJ, no lemon on my fish, no mayo, etc.
No strawberries. Bleh - my favorite berries. And all that stuff that goes with them.
No TOMATOES! How can I be a good Italian with no tomatoes? So, no pizza, nothing with a marinara sauce, bolognese sauce, any gravies. How do I cook bragiole without a tomato sauce? NO PIZZA! And what was today? We moved into a new building at work, and our employer had FREE PIZZA for lunch for everyone. So I had to eat something else from the caf. No problem, right? Tomatoes in the soup, tomatoes on all the premade sandwiches, tomatoes in all the hot dishes, and all the salads. I had to ask if they could make a sandwich for me without tomatoes. The first response was "We have premade sandwiches" I explained my allergy, and got a sigh and rolled eyes.
I was nearly in tears.
All I wanted was a lunch I could eat! *sigh*
