Faire was definitely better than fair....
Sep. 8th, 2003 01:25 pmWell, we got back into town at around 9 - but instead of just dropping off
meadmaker at their place, he and
purpleyarrow and I went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I ended up getting home about 11:30 PM - and crashed by midnight.
the NY Ren Faire was great. Meadmaker and I got lots of ideas for next season. Looks like I'm going to have to start really sewing again. :) And get good steel 1" boning this time. Oh yeah!
We saw the Crimson Pirates, and a few other acts that had Meadmaker telling me that I should put together a Ren Faire act - if they can do it, so can I. Alas, the time necessary for such an endeavor does not seem to be on my agenda. Ah, well. Perhaps I can audition for Pastimes Productions or some similar group, they may be a good venue. I do miss performing. *sigh*
Didn't shop too much. Got a lot of ideas though. And I was drooling quite a bit. Alas. I need to sew again. Really sew.
oooh - and Meadmaker got an awesome hat. With PLUMAGE! I could certainly use something like that next year. I came home dirty, tired, ren faire songs pounding through my head (Chandler's Wife, Last of the xx Privateers, Roll Your Leg Over, et al), and a respectable bodice burn. Yes. I now have square tan/burn lines across my bosom. :-D hehehe!
We stayed with S---- in Park Slope Brooklyn. Ah - to drive in Brooklyn again. It would have been nice if we had more time and I could have driven Meadmaker through Bay Ridge and past my grandmother's house - the place where my father grew up, and where I had some of my favorite early childhood memories. *sigh*
Then again, we drove through north Jersey to get to the Faire - so it would also have been nice to stay at Sullivan's in Stockholm, (or is it Franklin) and show him the woods where my grandfather lived.
And all in all it only took 1 1/2 tanks of gas. 616 mi on 18 gallons. That's 34.2 mpg. Wow. With the air conditioning running. And including traffic jams in NYC.
Lots of cuddles and kisses - and smooching under trees, and on a bridge, and stuffing bills in my cleavage for performers (ooh!), and Meadmaker kissed the hand of another performer (in the middle of the performance, too - it was excellent!) Alas, it was sad to leave - but we were both a little tired, and wanted to get on the road before we were too tired.
Sunday morning we bid farewell to our lovely hostess and her dog (Leika was awesome - a cuddly pup, to say the least), packed the car for our last day at faire, and then proceeded to the faire for our last day and then the drive home.
It was nice to sleep in my bed again. Benjamin (my feline companion) was extremely cuddly. It was very nice.
And now, off to act as a mundane again.
