Wow. What else can I say? Wow.

It started on Friday with a chock-full day. Really chock-full. And it wasn't all nuts... :-P

After Friday night, though, I got to spend a weekend with [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker. That was fun. We went our separate ways for a bit on Saturday (I had a morris gig at the Higgins Armory - yummy! An ale festival! What could be more perfect for a morris team?), and he took the time to do some other work at home.

Then, also on Saturday, we made it to a sushi-rolling party (yummy!), and then "Into the Woods" with LLJ and her mom. MTG did a more than respectable rendition of my favorite Sondheim musical. :-D

Into the woods you have to grope, 'cause that's that way you learn to cope...

So, after staying at Meadmaker's Saturday night, we cleaned out a room (nearly completely) and were reminded once again that it's much better to make a list and go shopping when you're NOT HUNGRY. Alas, we will get this down sooner or later.

Then last night we celebrated 3 months. Yippee! How? With Root Beer Floats, then gouda, triscuits and yummy homebrew.

Today I'm back at the grind. Trying to get files "overdone" so that I don't fall behind once Isabel hits.

So, today I start a week of "rush rush rush." Rush to get this week's diaries completed. Rush to do the same for next week's (yeah, I'm doing them this week). Rush to do laundry, especially stuff that's good for field work. Rush to make sure everything's in order if I have to leave on a moment's notice.

I suppose one of the nice things about hurricanes is that you know they're coming long enough in advance to prepare.

The nasty thing about hurricanes is that if you're in their path, you can't hope it just "skips over" you, like a tornado. But they tend to do the same amount, if not more, damage - especially when you throw the rain into the mix.

This has been in the back of my mind lately. Isabel. Isabel. At least she's down to 140 mph winds now, definitely a category 4. Now, if she could just turn a bit, hit cold water and make it down to a 2, well...I'd be much happier, at least.

And maybe then I could attend the Mabon ritual. Otherwise, it may be impossible. Depends on when/if I get deployed. Depends on a lot of things.

But, my work boots, maglite, tape measure, and hard hat are ready. Now I just need to know where to take them. And then go. And hope for the best.
