Mmmm.

Well, I'm not going into the weather on this post, I'll do that on the next one...

So, last night was the surpise party for [livejournal.com profile] tafkar and the Yule party being hosted by [livejournal.com profile] windwriter. The night started shaky - [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker had stuff going on with work, [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow and I did a clothing swap - and she wore her new purple velvet dress to the various parties. Ok, I wore a little black skirt, and a sexy blouse, and my black bitch boots. Just to spice it up, added a black boa (which also helped with warmth), and used some blue stuff to put blue streaks in my hair. [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker wore his green flouncy shirt and black jeans. Mmmm - we were one sexy bunch headed out for a night of revelry. Much fun was had getting ready.

Much MORE fun was had at the parties.

So, we gathered for the surprise party. And, SUCCESS, [livejournal.com profile] tafkar was surprised! Yay!

Oh, and to be treated to yummy tasty kisses from [livejournal.com profile] tafkar - that was nice. *grin*

Alas, we had to leave and say our goodbyes...and go to the Yule party. [livejournal.com profile] windwriter co-hosted it with his roomie, and [livejournal.com profile] badseed1980 was there, too.

Poor planning, and the fact that I have been "detoxed" rather effectively meant that I did not realize the late hour, and at about 1AM, we decided it really was time to go home. Since [livejournal.com profile] badseed1980 had missed the last T, I drove her home, too. In the rotten weather. Bleh.

Finally got home at 3AM, showered (to get the blue out of my hair) checked email, LJ, and then finished a book and went to bed at 4AM. Alas - I had to get up at 8AM to dig my car out and get ready to go with [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow to a nifty wood furniture store in Waltham. Again - more on that chapter later...

Stay tuned...

SNOW!
SNOW!
SNOW!
And it's still coming down!

Can you believe I was out most of the day in this? Yeah. Me neither. I didn't think I was that crazy.

So, I dug out the car, and picked up [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow by 10:30. Excellent - a little later than I wanted, but not bad.

We went to Waltham to go to the store of WOOD FURNITURE. I don't remember the name of it, actually, just that they sell finished and unfinished wood furniture, and are extremely helpful. I just ordered a 25" diameter round end table (!!!) for $82 - solid oak!

Then we went to The Construction Site, also on Moody St. I found real wood Tinkertoys for my 4 yr old nephew, and wooden alphabet blocks IN A CRATE for my 2 year old niece. I had to laugh - they even have ALEPH-BET BLOCKS! (waiting for the giggle from those who ever learned a bit of Hebrew). And Supermags for me and my dad (one set for me, and one for Dad). They're awesome little toys that involve magnetized steel balls and magnetic plastic sticks, and you build with them. It's a blast!

Had a lovely conversation with [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow, too. *bounce* It makes me happy. Though, it seems there are many things to make me happy nowadays. *bounce*

After a fine lunch at Rangoli, we drove back to her place, and braved the weather one more time. I don't know how many inches have fallen, officially. But it's too much for the first dump of the year, IMO.

Finally made it home, only to get the car stuck getting into the driveway. Even worse, I could not get it back out of the driveway. It took me, Jinn (roomie), [livejournal.com profile] aelisdeliria and nifty upstairs neighbor to dig the car out and get it into the right place. So, of course, I rewarded them with Hot Cocoa...the real kind better than Mom used to make ('cause Mom used Hershey's, I use Ghanaian cocoa for my hot cocoa...might have something to do with the time I spent there...)

And now I'm here contemplating the events of the last 27 hours, and I see that, despite the horrible weather ("Baby, you'll freeze out there - It's up to your knees out there!"), it has been an awesome weekend. Yup. Definitely an awesome weekend.

Now I just hope that my brunch with [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker and [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow is doable tomorrow morning. If not, I suppose all I'll do tomorrow is laundry.
