arisia weekend!
Jan. 19th, 2004 11:46 amYes, it was fun.
No, I didn't get much sleep.
Worked enough hours to comp next year's admission. Yippee!
And I even managed a "Team Arisia 2004" t-shirt out of it.
Fast Track was fun. I had my reservations, but it kept me hopping. Some things I learned:
1. Clay is more exciting than drawing.
2. If teenagers show up, make sure they don't take the
dowels for the wand making before the younger kids get
a choice.
3. Pipe cleaners multiply
4. Mask making pieces should be cut out days before the kids
do mask making.
5. Glitter glue dries up way too easily.
6. Kids are better at putting together geodesic domes than adults.
7. Kamikaze Costuming is FUN if you're one of the people
manning the sewing machines.
8. In case of fire, the parents should at least leave the
coats behind with the kids. The thought of 7-12 yo's out
in the freezing cold on Saturday gave me quite a shiver.
Much flirting was done. Much returned. :-D Much fun.
Must remember not to discuss martial arts training too early in the flirting process...
The art show was pretty amazing. I knew some of the artists, which made it more fun. Hrm. I think, next year, though, I schedule things even better. For personal improvements:
1. Budget December better so that there is more cash available for
Arisia (especially after the Flea).
2. Get a room for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Yup, I
want to be there all weekend.
3. DON'T schedule a class for Sunday evening.
4. Don't consume caffeine for weeks before hand, so that it has
more effect during the con.
Other than that, I can't complain. It gets better each year, and
each year I realize that there is more that I want to do.
So, now, I sit and reminisce, and wonder what next year will do to surprise.
