Ok – here’s something odd.

Last night I was watching the Dead Zone on tivo…it’s the one from LAST Sunday. Anyway, the female interest in this episode was a woman doing my job in the same industry…and the folks with her were acting just like my peers.
So, as I’m watching this, I’m thinking, “You know, there are NOT a lot of women in my specific position in this country.” Really – in a company of 30,000+ people, I’m the only woman (out of 30 people) doing this job. And when you get into working with other companies, you realize that in this specific field, women are rare. Hey – this show has ME in it! Way cool!
Of course, then there was the whole thing where she was in danger and all… and as I’m watching this with my friends, we’re only 15 minutes into it and I predicted how/why it was going to end. Hmmm – yeah – and I was right.
So, I thought this was neat. I thought it was just being observant and being able to extrapolate an outcome from an observed series of events (hmmm – that’s kind of part of my job as it is…). Of course, my job also comes with expecting that the person on the other end of the issue is not being completely honest…(since something like 75-80% of folks in the US thought this kind of activity was NOT actually wrong, even though it’s illegal…and no, it has nothing to do with any kind of psychoactive substances).
I shared this all with one of my peers this morning, and as I started describing the course of events in the show….he completed it with the same outcome.
Methinks the writers have worked in my industry….
