Trying not to be pessimistic

Once again, I got the lucky cake, and I will be the May Queen in our frolic. I've received this token twice before. However, please note - I have NEVER frolicked during those years.

Any time I have been the lucky one, frolic just doesn't happen because of some scheduling problems.

As it is, there is no weekend this month that everyone in our group can make it to frolic. I feel very sad about this. I know this is minor, in the grand scheme of things, but it's a situation of, "Why do others get this, but not me? Or if I do, it's somehow less than what others get?"

Perhaps I'm just tired, too.

Our "frolic" was May Morning at Weeks Bridge. That's all we did.

I know I'm whining. Sorry.
I do wonder if we're going to have enough men to carry the pole, though.

No, I understand the whining. :) It's difficult to go as all-out on circle stuff when the HP and HPS have a very small child. I'm amazed we were even able to do this much for the sabbat. Everything has been pretty low-key, minimal-pomp-and-ceremony lately. I've been feeling the lack of it, especially with [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart gone.

I totally know the feeling... Not that it has happened to me in the same context, but I've had similar things happen to me in the past. It can be especially hard if you've done a lot of work to make it special for other people in the past, and when it is your turn... nothing.

I hope you manage to get a good group together for your frolic, with plenty of men to carry the maypole, and that you get to have the fun that you deserve!

Same thing happened to me, I won last year and we went to the Harvard Square frolic and everyone forgot my gift basket stuff and since I was going back to PA right afterwards...

The various gifts trickled in afterwards but it wasn't the same. It wasn't about the gifts it was about being the Queen, and I didn't feel Queenly. I was mildly peeved. But it wasn't really that much of a big deal.

I'm telling you this so you know it isn't just you.

Ultimately, who cares if there's an actual frolic or not? You still won! :) You're the Queen of May! Yay!

I rigged the drawing this year so that two little kids at our party got it.

I have to say, though, I was pleased this year. We didn't get to do a May Pole outside, so we did the indoor equivalent (it was raining and slippery on the grass). Kids participated. And apparently there's this general thought that I need to drink a lot more wine and liqueur.
