Bleh

I need to lose weight.
No, not because of the "social norms" or anything like that.
Not because I want to look like someone else.

I'm just not as comfortable in my skin.
And it makes morris dancing more difficult.

So, here goes.

Bleh.

Perhaps in conjunction with eating out less often, this will also improve the budget.

Yeah.

Let me know what I can do to help. Perhaps we can be more conscious of the foods we eat together. Maybe we can do something to help you burn off some calories.

Support is always good. I'll give you support too, chica. And I am thinking it's about time for me to do the same thing now that my PMS is over and I can manage to eat like a nprmal person again, instead of a chocolate FIEND. :)

Thanks, chica. It's not like I don't do anything.
It's just frustrating.
Bleh.

thanks again

I like the idea of doing something more active together (well, besides what we already do. ;) )

Any thoughts? Don't ask me to run. I never started outside of the marching band requirements because sports bras were never made in my size until I was already out of college (yes, I'm that old). And now is too late to shock my system with that.

WHEN?

Really, I already commit time for morris, and with as much else as is going on, I can't commit to another dance class.

Besides, belly dancing is my sister's thing, and I try to avoid avenues that could become competition between us.

Ah. Competition between siblings sucks. I didn't know your sister belly danced! That's cool.

Eh, maybe extra morris practice will provide the requisite amount of exercise?

Things to do

[identity profile] meadmaker.livejournal.com 2004-02-18 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Any thoughts?
  • Bicycle riding

  • Hiking (like the trails at the Malden Fells)

  • Martial arts (feel like taking up Karate?)

  • Swing dancing

  • Contra dancing

  • Swimming

  • Walking through parks

  • Rock climbing

  • Swimming trips to Walden Pond

  • Volunteer work at a food pantry

  • Cleaning out the basement of where I live (yeah, that sounds like a Herculean task to me... luckily we have a river nearby)

  • Sailing, or crew

  • Just going out and about more - less time to sit around and eat

  • Skydiving

  • Camping

  • Unicycling

Bicycle riding - I don't own a bike, and haven't had the cash for one in a loooooong time.

Hiking (like the trails at the Malden Fells) - ok, um, but on a nice day.

Martial arts (feel like taking up Karate?) - done that. I can't afford the classes. Really.

Swing dancing - Sure.

Contra dancing - When I don't have morris.

Swimming - again, requires a paid membership somewhere.

Walking through parks - nice - on a nice day.

Rock climbing - Uh, no thanks. I did a ropes course once only because I HAD to to be allowed to go to Ghana. That was more than enough for me.

Swimming trips to Walden Pond - when it's nice out.

Volunteer work at a food pantry - I did that for a summer. The smell of them makes me feel sick to my stomach, now.

Cleaning out the basement of where I live (yeah, that sounds like a Herculean task to me... luckily we have a river nearby) - you know, that might not be a bad idea if other things happen...

Sailing, or crew - Hmm - nver been into this one. I like being in the water more than on it.

Just going out and about more - less time to sit around and eat - Yeah. Alas, the out and about often costs money. So, until the weather is nicer, it's do what I can with what I've got.

Skydiving - NO.

Camping - We've talked about this. It's fun.

Unicycling - Uh, huh? Oh my.

Sweetie, these are good ideas...thanks. Well, some of them. I'm still not going rock climbing or skydiving.

just an fyi, i really really really liked running. i thought i would hate it. steve (the ex-husband) badgered me into doing it. since we did it together, i got it done.

and, i discovered i LOVED it. endorphins are great stuff!

unfortunately, unless i get proper orthotics, i can't run anymore. my arches are too high and they go splat and hurt like hell.

i should be dieting/exercising too. *sigh*

I feel the same way, for the same reasons.

*sigh* And trying to do something about it while travelling is nearly impossible.

Nearly - and it makes the trip much less pleasant to constantly worry about what you're eating even more than you or I already have to...
