What do I want? I'd really like for folks to get along. Since that is not likely to happen...
- I'd like for folks to realize that doing things differently doesn't have to separate us.
- I would like folks to understand that I have heard their concerns, and considered them. I cannot, however, base my decisions on things I have not seen. This is not a slap in the face to anyone. It is, however, the consideration that I would also like to receive.
- I'd like disagreements to be just that. Not "You're wrong and I'm right." In many of these issues, debating wrong and right is a non-issue.
- I would like the same benefit of the doubt that I have given others when I didn't understand why they did what they did.
Anyway, with that in mind, I'm not going to hold my breath. It's just a wish.

If you paint like Monet and I paint like Jackson Pollock, that's going to separate us. It doesn't mean we're not both painting, but it does mean that I can't claim to be part of the Monet School of painting.

Which is why I've been careful about where I weigh in on certain issues.

Absolutely.
I would like the same benefit of the doubt that I have given others when I didn't understand why they did what they did.
Sounds reasonable. However, it seems that the best approach is to have an open and forthright discussion of what's going on so that everyone's on the same page. Then we can discuss whether someone's doing something right or wrong, and why.
