Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!
Jul. 27th, 2003 01:08 pmDrink up me mateys, yo ho!
Saw Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday with M---. :) Lots of fun. And for those of you who have been on the ride (either at DL or at WDW), you'll recognize some of the scenery...and some of the songs.
Gotta love it!
I'll try not to spoil it, though. I will say, though ...the one scene that is reminiscent of the jail scene in the ride (where I was caught when the ride stopped for about 10 minutes one of the many times I was on it...)is definitely true to form. It was FUN! And I've been singing the "Yo ho!" song ever since.
Johnny Depp was amazing...of course, even when he's not amazing in the choice of roles, he's rather amazing anyway. Yeah - I'm one of the saps who has been enamored of him since "21 Jump Street." But that hair, and the wrap, and the hat! And the makeup! wow.
Gotta say, though, I was not nearly as impressed with the female lead. Ah, well. Although, her impressions of the turmoil of corsetry were, well, amusing.
And in the previews....Disney is doing a movie on ANOTHER ride. In fact, besides Tom Sawyer's Island, Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Space Mountain, it's the only other ride that I considered repeating on the same trip...
Funny thing is, we're watching the preview, and they haven't mentioned the name of the movie yet, and I leaned over to M--- and said, "That looks like the woman from the Haunted Mansion!" Lo and behold! It was! Disney is now doing a movie on the Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy. Hmmm - I know I'm going to have to see it. I just hope it does justice to one of my favorite rides in the Magic Kingdom...
(Here lies good old Fred, a great big rock fell on his head...)
