Ugh - my cat, Benjamin, does NOT handle routine changes well. And, like most companions, doesn't understand weekends.

So, this morning at 6 am he decided that I should be up. After all, I usually am. And he wanted to be fed. Oh fine. Get up, feed him - oh, look, the dishes need to be put away. So I put away the dishes. Oh, look, another grain moth - so I was on a hunting mission. Before I knew it, it was about time for me to be up anyway. Again, ugh.

Signs you need a vacation. A real vacation. Doing NOTHING. No travel, no work, no bills, just vegging for several days:

1. You wake up on Saturday as if it's a work day, and CAN'T get back to sleep.

2. You feel grumpy even when you're out with the people you're closest to in your current life.

3. You put an english muffin in the toaster for breakfast, totally forget about it, then realize you haven't eaten anything yet about 4 hours later, but you could SWEAR that you toasted an english muffin for breakfast, and you did - you just never ate it. I found it in the toaster when I got home this afternoon.

4. You "take a nap" that's supposed to be no more than an hour - and wake up 4 1/2 hours later. I woke up at 9:30 PM. *sigh*

5. You're really hungry, but keep thinking "it's too late to eat dinner." So you heat up the english muffin that's STILL in the toaster and have that instead.

6. You start laughing hysterically at all of this even though you realize how sad it is.

Nice day. Well, even though it was cloudy and rainy and wet...

Had a vanity appointment first thing this morning (after getting up at way-to-early AM). Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Hmmm. But, you know, have lasers zap hair hurts more than a tattoo - trust me. If I hadn't won the session, I would never have tried that kind of pain.

Then [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker and [livejournal.com profile] purpleyarrow and I went to the Topsfield Fair. That was neat. My roomie still doesn't know I came home with "more honey." hehehe.

But we saw people doing wood carving - some really nice work. And the beekepers - got to actually watch the queen! Yippee!

Then, of course, there were the cows and sheep and pigs (and piglets playing, and piglets suckling - they were FUNNY!), and BIRDS OF PREY - that were just beautiful. Miniature horses. Clydesdales. No regular horses - but, then again, this fair doesn't have the equestrian events that I've come to expect. We saw rabbits and guinea pigs. Come to thing of it, though, I don't recall seeing the chickens and ducks and geese. Hrm.

Meadmaker got a fabulous leather duster - drool. Black leather duster...black leather boots...

Oh. Um. Excuse me. Anyway, as I was saying, there were trade exhibits, and all sorts of cool things. *sigh*

We saw flower exhibits, and veggie exhibits. Also nice. I did miss seeing the crafts. Hrm. There are usually all sorts of historical bits added in with those, and that would have been neat. I love learning about the history of the places that I live. Not the kind of history that's in books, but the kind that the folks know who have been there for 5-10 generations (or more).

Stopped at the grocery to pick up a few needed things on my way home. Admired my cleaned pantry (yesterday's project), and promptly fell asleep. Didn't wake up until it was time to make sure my roomie made it to work tonight. Ah, well.

So, here I am - typing away. I should be out being social. Or sleeping. Oh well.
