Two Good Things

Because a few things in the last couple of days have me feeling down and sorry for myself, here are TWO GOOD THINGS:

1. I have a good job, a good family, a home (even though it's in flux), friends, and a fabulous network of people in my life.

2. Benjamin didn't cry for his food this morning - he simply sat on the bed staring at me and purring.

Weirdness at Work

It's strange when you move to a new city, and work for a huge international corporation, and just do your job...

Then, out of nowhere, someone who worked with your father when you were a kid shows up for depositions in your office. You know this person and his family, you know the issues with their children...and they have watched you grow up from an 11 year old that would rather jump in a canal to catch a football rather than let the pass be incomplete to an adult who would rather do the same thing...except I think now I'd think to look for aligators first.

When Wausau Insurance Co bought my fathers' employer in Miami, they kept two people from this office - my dad and this man. They moved both of our families to Wausau, WI. We lived around the corner from each other in Wausau. He knew when I started working for Wausau Insurance, and when Liberty bought us, he went with the old parent company, Nationwide, just like my dad.

He came back to Liberty. And he is here in our office today. Let me tell you, it is strange to see him in this context. Very strange indeed.

Playing with freeware for my palm...

I just loaded the "Gaydar" freeware. It's hilarious!
Then Connect 4 and Checkers and a tarot reference guide, though I don't use them much, it's nice to have when needed.

*sigh* Boy do I hate slow slow days.

Abortion?:	I haven't had that choice before me, but the choice should be legal
Death Penalty?:	If it's called for - it isn't called for often.
Prostitution?:	Not a problem, in my book. I'd rather see it regulated.
Alcohol?:	In moderation.
Marijuana?:	Not for me - but no problem with others using it.
Other drugs?:	Same
Gay marriage?:	Definitely
Illegal immigrants?:	You know - if they're going to take our jobs, they should also pay our taxes. Otherwise, no problem.
Smoking?:	Not for me - or around me. I'm allergic to tobacco
Drunk driving?:	NEVER!!!!!
Cloning?:	For what purpose?
Racism?:	NO! (hehe - my mother laughs that she never knew the race of my friends or teachers until she met them. Just sayin')
Premarital sex?:	Sure.
Religion?:	You can have yours, I can have mine. Mine doesn't have to be yours, or vice versa
The war in Iraq?:	Not the way it was done...though I don't hold that against any member of our armed forces...
Bush?:	Frustrating.
Downloading music?:	No. The artists need to be paid for their work.
The legal drinking age?:	12. 18. 21. Each has its problems.
Porn?:	Heck yeah!
Suicide?:	Not the way to go...really.
