Crayola plans to retire four colors from its crayon box and add four new ones at the company's 100th birthday celebration next month.
Crayon fans voted in an online campaign to spare one of five colors - Burnt Sienna, Teal Blue, Blizzard Blue, Mulberry and Magic Mint - that the company had selected to be eliminated from its 120-color stable.

Crayola officials chose five colors they considered redundant or unattractive on paper, company spokeswoman Stacy Gabrielle said.
The winning color of the "Save the Shade" campaign will be announced at Crayola's Oct. 11 birthday party. The company plans to unveil the new Crayola colors, as well as the world's largest crayon, after a parade, titled "Discover the Color of Crayola."

It will be just the second time Crayola has retired colors; the crayon maker discontinued eight colors in 1990.
